Why Season Tickets?
I recently realized that I've never written about my season ticket holder experience at Playhouse Square in Cleveland! My mom and I are currently in our second year with the program and I genuinely believe it's been one of the best investments we've ever made. Each year in February/March they announce which shows will be in the following year's season (running October-July) for ticket holders. These shows are typically touring productions of popular Broadway shows and they stay in Cleveland for three weeks at a time. This year's shows include Summer, The Bands Visit, Mean Girls, Anastasia, Jesus Christ Superstar, My Fair Lady and Frozen. Ticket holders sit in the same seats for every show, and you quickly learn where those seats are and don't need help finding them when you arrive. We've even befriended the other ticket holders who sit around us since we see them typically once a month at each show! As a true theatre nerd this allows me to see shows I'd never make it to New York to experience, and my mom has gotten to see performances she never would've expected to fall in love with. An example is how reluctant she was to see Hello, Dolly! last fall but now it is one of her favorite musicals. She even named our Roomba after one of the characters.
Overall, the season ticket experience through Playhouse Square has been extremely beneficial and eye-opening over the past year and a half that we've participated. If you live in the Cleveland area, it is worth every penny!
