Thanksgiving Break Recap
I definitely needed a week off from classes. As we approach the end of our fall semester here at ONU the assignments have begun to pile up and students are getting stressed. Thanksgiving break is the chance for us to take a breather and reset before finals. That being said, I headed home to Cleveland on Thursday afternoon and couldn't have been more excited to see my parents and cat. We spent the first two days catching up on appointments and seeing old friends from home before I went back to work at Ulta. Once I started back on Saturday morning, I worked everyday until I came back to campus the following Sunday. This includes Thanksgiving and Black Friday! While working the two busiest days of the year for retail I walked an average of five miles each day in the store. That's a lot considering our stores aren't really that large to begin with. I may have missed Thanksgiving with my family but at least I was making time and a half with some of my favorite people at work that night.
Catching up with friends who go to college further away from home is always something that brings joy into my life each time I go home. It never fails to amaze me how little of an impact distance has on relationships that are strong enough to survive them. We caught up on what life is like going to college in Florida vs. Ohio, stories of our adventures at school and other things going on in our personal lives. It was genuinely refreshing to hear about how my friends are doing at school since I don't get to see them very often. Overall, I loved going home for break and can't wait to see everyone again for Christmas!
Retail on black Friday is the scariest thing ever, but it's good you had friends to work with to make it more fun. I am happy you got to catch up with old friends and enjoy your week back home. I don't know about you, but the week flew by way too fast so I'm looking forward to Christmas break already.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you spent your holidays with close people. This break was so helpful before the most stressful week this semester. We all needed some rest before the final exams. So, I think you enjoyed that time and that is awesome!
