Tales of a Dance Call

I definitely wouldn't consider myself to be a dancer. I've never really taken any classes for it and my only real experience has been the choreography in various musicals that I've been in over the years. That being said, going to my first real dance call this week was absolutely terrifying. I walked into the Freed Center on Tuesday evening with the only pair of dance-type shoes I own, ready to hope for the best going forward with the call. I looked myself in the mirror at one point and reminded my brain that I was capable of anything I set my mind to, even in a situation like this where I was extremely uncomfortable with the content.

Three hours later, it was over. I survived the night of technical, upbeat and lively dancing despite having not done it in over two years. I walked out of the building knowing that even though I may not have the technical training that others may have, I gave that night my whole heart and everything I had in me. It may have been rough, but I couldn't be more proud of myself for taking the plunge and going to the open call.
