Bringing it Full Circle
As we wrap up this semester at Ohio Northern, I've been giving a seemingly endless amount of presentations while submitting multiple extensive research papers in order to finish up classes. For my Introduction to Public Relations (PR) course I was given the opportunity to select which industry I would research PR jobs within. While considering my options, I remembered that I wrote multiple blog entries regarding social media within the beauty industry. Instantly I knew what the topic of my final research paper would be, and I set to work on it. After hours of writing I ended up with a 13 page paper detailing different tactics and opportunities within the beauty industry and social media/PR. During our class meeting on Wednesday I presented my findings for my peers with glowing reviews from the professor on how thorough and solid my work was. While writing those blog posts these past few months I never would've thought how much they would come together and really become an asset at the end of the semester.
It really goes to show that often times work can come together in ways we never expected it to. One seemingly simple or "dumb" assignment can turn into the backbone of your portfolio going forward into the professional career field. Had I not had to complete those blog assignments I'm sure that writing my PR paper would've taken a lot longer and significantly more frustrating to complete.
