Follow Your Heart Back Home

I knew that coming into college I would meet people who would change my life forever. Going greek was never even a question. I knew that I would go through formal recruitment but never expected to meet the two women who have become my closest friends at Ohio Northern. Anna and Maddy are so different individually, but when we all come together it is a never ending tale of laughter and hysterics.

As we go into our senior year next fall, we will be moving to a house off campus together. 523 is the house number and it has become a sort of chant for us recently. We've found ways to make each other better women individually through close knit bonds and long nights with minimal sleep. Anna will stay on campus after Maddy and I graduate, which has recently become a common topic of discussion amongst us. Who will she live with for her fifth year? Will she sob for the entirety of our commencement ceremony? We still have awhile until these questions need answered, but it's still something that I think about rather often. It doesn't feel like I'm more than 50% to the finish line, possibly because for now I have to focus on finding an internship.

Overall, I know in my heart that I was led to these two women. It may have taken us until the end of sophomore year to realize just how much we needed one another, but I couldn't be more grateful that it happened. Even in your darkest days, follow your heart to the people who make campus feel like home.

  1. I love to hear stories like this. ONU and greek life have also brought me my best friends and I'm so thankful for it. It's amazing when you find that group that you just click so well with and can trust them with anything. I hope you enjoy living with Anna and Maddy next year and I hope you make life-long memories with each other. :)
