Let's Go to a Concert
They're my guilty pleasure. A safe haven. I know it may sound a bit dramatic, but one of my favorite places to be is at a concert or performance of any form. Standing in a crowd of thousands of people is a proven way to alleviate stress even on the worst days. It's something that my closest friend back home, Ally and I have been doing since we graduated high school. So far we've seen Shawn Mendes, Charlie Puth, 5 Seconds of Summer, Harry Styles, Beyonce, Hozier and Lizzo. Yes it can get expensive, but I think that the experience's are 100% worth the investment.
There's something special about singing along to your favorite songs with someone you love. Personally, I don't mind being further back from the stage for the larger shows. On the other side of that, I've been close for One Direction back in 2015 as well as Lizzo last month. If you're not into the hype and being in close quarters with a lot of other people, then floor seats and general admission may not be for you. For Ally and I, it's heaven.
Even if you're not sure that it'll be fun, I encourage everyone to go to at least one concert each year. Get dressed up, take photos with your bestie, and have the time of your life. Shows like Hozier can help you calm down after a stressful semester, or Lizzo is amazing if you need a burst of positivity and encouragement. Overall, a personal favorite has been the 2 times I've seen Beyonce. The first was in Chicago while last year I saw her perform in Cleveland. She has always been my life model, and I promise you all that I will continue going to see her on every tour until she retires. Concerts are my favorite place to be, and I don't think I'll ever say no to one.
Hey Allie,
ReplyDeleteIts always interesting to hear the perspective of someone who loves concerts as you do. I have never been one to love concerts. I have been to one that I can remember. I loved the artist and I actually had a VIP pass and I got to meet and take pictures with him. Maybe it was the hours of standing or the cramped space, but I had left without that "wow" factor. Over the summer, I've seen a bunch of friends at concerts on social media and after reading this post as well; I'm curious as if I should give it another shot. You're right in that it is the memories made that are so special. So I may just have to give it another shot.
