Color Me DZ 2019
Bid Day. The best day of the year for a sorority girl. Here at Ohio Northern, it happened this past Sunday in Affinity Commons. During the recruitment season, I was a member of the Rho Gamma team of counselors for women going through recruitment to join a chapter on campus. This job meant that I had to hide my affiliation for the past few months, not spending time in public with the sisters from my own chapter. Thankfully that is finally over!
As soon as I ran home to Delta Zeta, I experienced a rush of happiness, joy and emotion. You don't realize the impact that your sorority family has on you each day until you have to basically ignore it. My best friends in the world were waiting for me to be back on their Instagram feed, having dinners at Mac and goofing around in the library when we should be studying.
On Sunday, we got a group of eighteen amazing women as new members in our chapter. They come from a variety of backgrounds, majors and beliefs to help us be more well rounded and unified through our sisterhood. Instantly they were greeted by a Color Run themed event, colored smoke bombs and cheers of joy. We spent the afternoon sharing stories, laughing until we cried and I even ended up with the color powder in my nose for the following day. Overall, it was a really special day for every chapter on our campus, and I can't wait to see what our incoming class of women does for my chapter.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your view from Bid Day. I personally did not rush this year but many of my friends did. I think that it is good to have mentors for the women who are going through the process. I'm glad that it was a good overall experience and will look forward to more DZ events around campus. Thanks for sharing,
Alyson
Bid day best day am I right?! This is an exciting day for people in the sorority as just members, so I can only imagine how exciting this was for you to run home again. I love seeing posts about greek life because I think it's amazing what greek life does for the community and I love seeing girls happy in their sorority. I am so happy for you and getting to be open about being in DZ now. I'm sure your girls missed you. :)
